Coming from a very musical family, Craig began studying music at the age of 8 playing the bodhrán. Shortly after, Craig began studying guitar and is now the frontman of Created By Comets, a 7-piece funk and soul band travelling all over Ireland playing festivals, venues, weddings and corporate events. Craig also studied music in UCD and runs his own music studio in Co. Kildare. Craig has been managing Jam Music School since 2010 and has over 14 years experience teaching guitar, bodhrán, drums and ukulele.
Nora was awarded a First Class Honours B.Mus. Degree and Masters in Composition from University College Cork. Teaching both in large groups and on a one-to-one basis has helped her develop a unique and creative approach to creating and teaching music. Nora loves working with students of various ages and abilities in a relaxed and creative environment. As a vocal coach Nora focuses on breath control, diction and stage performance techniques. Nora teaches piano incorporating aspects of theory and harmony, rhythm studies, exam preparation and aural training.
An early starter on the guitar, James did his first gig with Irish act ‘Slightly Imperfect’ at age 13. This band performed nationwide and released two albums of original material on independent labels. He then went on to play with with top touring bands such as ‘Pick up the pieces’ and the ‘Great Pretenders’ around the UK and Ireland gaining huge live experience. James also writes and produces music for various artists and owns Soundsrite Studios in Co. Kildare.
Patrick has been involved in live music performance and studio work with various artists and musicians for over a decade. He studied contemporary music at Ballyfermot College and has been teaching drums for the past five years. His aspiration for students is to make them creative musicians, helping them to develop the technical skills they need while nurturing their ability to improvise and use their imagination.
Ronan has been playing guitar for over 15 years. during this time he has played guitar, bass and drums in many bands covering all styles of music from indie electro pop, folk, classic rock, progressive and metal. A graduate of the renowned Ballyfermot Rockschool he has a wealth of experience and knowledge from performing live and in the studio.
John has been teaching the drums at Jam Music since Jam Music School first opened in 2008. A seasoned pro in live and studio work John is a graduate of the renowned Ballyfermot Rockschool in Dublin and also holds a Grade 8 certificate in drums from Rockschool UK. He has a wealth of experience teaching all aspects of drumming from the basics to advanced techniques in all styles.
Matt Rafter has been teaching Piano, Cello and Violin for five years. Having recently completed a BA in Music from Trinity College, Dublin, he has played cello with various ensembles including Trinity Orchestra, Vltava String Quartet and Irish pop act Hozier. Matt also attends workshops on music pedagogy by the Kodaly Society of Ireland, which also allows him to pursue his other musical interest of orchestral conducting
Padraig is a graduate of Waterford I.T. having studied Jazz and Classical guitar as his major. Working as a professional musician since graduating, his teaching style is based on practical musicianship and aims to encourage students to develop their own personalities on their instruments: every student is unique and should be treated as such! Songwriting is a fundamental part of his teaching and very rewarding for both younger and older students.
Stephen has been performing music for the last 12 years and is one of the longest serving Jam Music teachers. Stephen plays guitar and drums in many different styles ranging from funk/soul to electronic. He is versatile in teaching different styles of music and aims to keep a fun learning environment for the student. Stephen is currently studying a B.A. Honours Degree in Music Technology in Maynooth University and has also been educated at Ballyfermot Rockschool and Institute of Technology, Tralee. He has 101,110, 201, 210 Pro Tools Certificates, along with City & Guild Sound Engineering Diplomas 1 & 2, City & Guilds Music Technology Diploma.
Eoghan teaches guitar in Jam Music and can offer tuition in rock, pop, funk and classical styles. He holds a M.A in Music Technology and a B.A Honours in Applied Music from Dundalk Institute of Technology where he specialised in composition. Eoghan has also acquired City & Guilds certification in Sound Engineering and a Fetac level 6 certificate in Contemporary Music Performance from the Ballyfermot Rock School in Dublin. He performs regularly as front man and rhythm guitarist in the Dublin based band Pyramid Hill.
Jill has studied piano for thirteen years to Senior Certificate level. Having undertaken five years of vocal training, she now sings with a variety of choirs, ranging from gospel to classical styles. Jill teaches music theory to students in Anam Girls Choir. She is currently studying Primary School Teaching with a focus on music.
Dean studied Classical Guitar performance at Waterford Institute of Technology and has been playing guitar and bass in a variety of styles and genres for the past 15 years. He has a wealth of experience playing live with various bands all over Ireland in the last 5 years. His teaching style is geared towards helping the student embrace their own creativity while helping them learn technique and theory to improve their overall musicianship.
Muireann has been studying the violin for eleven years. Studying music at third level in the Cork School of Music. Muireann has been in and performed with the National Orchestra of Ireland for four consecutive years. Muireann enjoys teaching and helping students to achieve their musical goals.
In 2015 Rachel obtained a BMus (Hons) Degree from CIT Cork School of Music having majored in saxophone and flute performance. Rachel has gained knowledge and experience in all aspects of performance and improvising spanning across all genres of music from classical to jazz and everything in between. She has performed and recorded with leading Irish and international artists and bands such as Pierce Turner, The Roaring 40’s and Loose Change. With Jam Music School Rachel is offering tailor-made lessons designed to meet the goals of each student, beginner to advanced, with a strong emphasis on performance practice and correct technique. With years of teaching experience, Rachel is confident that you will achieve your musical goals with ease and enjoyment.
Daire has been playing piano professionally for the last decade playing jazz, classical, blues, funk and country. Daire received his training both through formal study at Cork School of Music and by being on the road as a working musician. www.dairewallace.com
Aoife has been playing violin and viola from an early age. She plays both Classical and Irish Traditional music and has competed and performed on a variety of stages with both genres. Aoife is currently studying for Diploma in Community and Group music teaching from the Royal Irish Academy of Music. She enjoys teaching both large groups and individual lessons.
Margaret has been playing piano since age 8 and completed a Music Performance and Teaching Diploma ALCM aged 18. In 2015, she completed a Masters in Traditional Irish Music Performance in the Irish World Academy with piano as her main instrument and modules in concertina and harp. Margaret’s teaching aims to challenge each student, to assist them to develop skills for life and help them to express their individual musical preferences and perform with confidence to the best of their abilities.
